SYCO Auditions
Auditions are required for new members entering the Shoreline Youth Concert Orchestra. Auditions are held in June and again in September if there are still openings for instrumentation. Please see Audition Information tab at the top of the page. The audition is to make sure that the students are advanced enough to have a positive orchestral experience. We provide a relaxed and nurturing environment, as we realize this may be some student’s first audition experience.
Auditions are by appointment only and will be held at Daniel Hand High School, 286 Green Hill Rd, Madison, CT 06443.
The student will play a scale and solo piece of their choice and short sight‐reading excerpt. The SYCO audition piece and scales should be at or above the level of the CMEA middle school regionals audition selections. These regional scales and solo pieces can be found at cmea.org under Auditions and Festivals.
If you have any questions regarding your audition or what to perform for the audition, you may submit your question by contacting the conductor when you submit your audition request.
There will be a parent representative at the audition to answer any questions that you may have. We look forward to hearing from you.
