Our Symphony and Concert Conductor
Christopher Jones has called the shoreline his home since his youth. After graduating Guilford High School with cello in hand, his undergraduate studies in Music Education were at UConn. While there Chris was active in a cappella groups, orchestras, ballroom dance team and formed his string trio, Arioso, which played over 250 events in its decade of activity. In 2005 he started teaching teaching orchestra at Adams Middle School in Guilford. From 2012-2021 Chris was the assistant conductor for the Neighborhood Music School Student Concert Orchestra. Chris earned a Master of Music in Conducting from Colorado State University and completed preliminary coursework for a Doctorate of Conducting at the Hartt School. In 2021 Chris took over the Guilford High School orchestras and assists in teaching small group band lessons at the middle school.
While not making music, Mr. Jones enjoys sailing, hiking and skiing with his wife (Katie, also a music teacher) and two kids.
